Multichoice Ghana launches 30th anniversary

MultiChoice Ghana is 30 years and has launched its anniversary in Accra. This milestone is a testament to the company’s dedication to providing quality entertainment and innovative technology to the people of Ghana.

MultiChoice Ghana is a joint venture between local businessman Richard Darko and the MultiChoice Group, which was established in 1993. Over the past three decades, MultiChoice Ghana’s products DStv and GOtv have become a household name in the country, providing access to some of the best television content from around the world. 

Through its innovative services, the company has brought joy and entertainment, education and a channel to sharing rich content, culture and lifestyle of Ghanaians to the rest of the continent. MultiChoice Ghana is more than just a provider of television content. It has also made significant contributions to the development of Ghana’s media and entertainment industry. 

The company has invested in local content production, supporting Ghanaian filmmakers, actors, and musicians. This has not only helped to promote Ghana’s culture and talent but also created employment opportunities for many young people.

The Board Chair of the National Communications Authority, Mr. Isaac Osei-Bonsu Jnr. said the NCA wished the company well in all of their endeavors, and would continue to be their partner. 

The Chairman of MultiChoice Ghana, Mr. Richard Darko intimated that the company has been at the forefront of revolutionizing the television industry in Ghana, and has achieved this through innovation, excellence, and unwavering commitment to their customers and partners. He said they have strived to offer our customers an unparalleled experience with diverse content that caters to all ages, interests, and cultures. Additionally, their channels have become a staple in households, providing both education and entertainment.

Mr. Dark said as they celebrate this milestone, they look forward to even greater achievements in the years to come. He mentioned that they are excited about the future and the opportunities it presents to us. He said they will continue to invest in innovative technologies that will transform the television industry in Ghana.

The Group Chairman, MultiChoice Group, Mr. Imatiaz Patel said their unwavering commitment to Ghana still remains. They are devoted to continuing their effort to bring quality entertainment to Ghanaians. They will continue to invest in technology, expand their Programming and introduce new services to ensure that they remain at the forefront in the industry. As they celebrate this mail-stone they look forward to the future with excitement and optimism. They remain committed to their viewers and to providing them with the best entertainment experience. They will continue to innovate and evolve and to meet the needs of customers. 

The Deputy Minister for Information, Mrs. Fatima Abubakar reiterated that the company’s contribution to the media and entertainment industry in Ghana is invaluable, and that they looked forward to many more years of partnership and growth. She urged them to continue to consistently innovate to meet the changing needs of its customers but be guided by maintaining high African moral standards and family values.

Mrs. Fatima Abubakar mentioned that the Ministry is committed to supporting all their stakeholders within the information center. She encouraged them to look at the aspect of capability building and training. She entreated them to use their social corporate responsibility to support some of the key stakeholders and train the key players within the information sector. 

The Managing Director for MultiChoice Ghana Mr. Alex Okyere said they are committed to creating value for their customers and partners and contributing to the growth and development of the Ghanaian economy.  He added that they remain committed to delivering value to our customers and contributing to the growth of the Film and Television industry in Ghana. He reiterated that they remain committed to providing our customers with the best viewing experiences.

They work closely with partners including the Ministry of Information, the National Media Commission, National Film Authority and the National Film and Television Institute, to help foster creative and business environments in which everyone benefits. MultiChoice Ghana is celebrating 30 years of operations in Ghana.
