Muslim worshippers at Masjidul Bayaan Mosque in Tamale have offered a special thanksgiving prayer to the Almighty Allah for an end to the Dagbon chieftaincy crisis and ensuring peace in the area.
Sheikh Ibrahim Basha Idris (Shehul Bayaan), Head of Masjidul Bayaan Mosque in Tamale, who led the worshippers in prayers at the mosque on Friday afternoon, said for years the peace and security situation at Dagbon was a worry to worshippers, who prayed incessantly to Allah for a successful resolution.
He said the Almighty Allah answered their prayers as the new Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Mahama Abukari (II) was successfully selected and enskinned in January, this year hence thanking Him was apt and that they hope for more of His abundant blessings.
Sheikh Basha Idris thanked President Nana Akufo-Addo for his role in resolving the Dagbon chieftaincy crisis saying “Oh Allah! We equally acknowledge without hypocrisy that had it not been the courage and commitment to peace you imbibed in President Nana Akufo-Addo, the entire peace process would have been futile.”
He prayed to Allah to bless and support the President to continue to honour his promises to the citizenry adding “May You grant him another opportunity to bring peace to other parts of the country with chieftaincy disputes especially to our brothers in Nanung.”
He expressed gratitude to the Committee of Eminent Chiefs, civil society organizations, the media and the entire citizenry for contributing immensely to the Dagbon peace process.
Sheikh Basha Idris said the patience, tolerance and cooperation of the leaders of the two royal gates were remarkable adding “We say kudos to our cheerful Overlord, Ya-Na Abukari (II), his two sons; Boling Lana and Kampakuya Naa for their extraordinary patience.”
He prayed to Allah to sustain the peace and bless Dagbon as well as the country.
