Assemblyman for Gedan-Tuba in the Ga South Municipal Assembly, of the Greater Accra Region, Narteh Dawud Kweitsu, is encouraging Muslims to be moderate in the Eid celebration to avoid needless accidents and deaths. He said Ramadan is a period where Muslims strive to be holy, a reason they should avoid tendencies that will make them sin.
“It’s very great that you see people fasting the whole month, without eating it’s not easy. All this to purify their soul and pray. This month every sinful act is ceased so it’s not easy”
“Everybody should stay away from things that will cause them accidents, riding motor rough, speeding up and down. Things that will not help peace of the community wherever they find themselves and their own lives they should desist from those things”
Speaking to GBC NEWS, as Muslims celebrate Eid-Ul Fitr today, Mr. Kweitsu said although this year’s celebration is at a time where Ghanaians are generally experiencing financial difficulties, Muslims must be grateful to God for his protection. He said Ramadan is not an easy period and hoped God accepts all supplications made to him.
“Now we celebrate but where’s the money, no money but we give thanks to Allah which is Almighty God that he carried us through this hardship but we are happy because it purifies our body. Last year we did it with some people but now they are now under the Sun. So we have to pray to Allah and give thanks to Almighty God”
He encouraged them to ensure they adhere to sermons that will be shared during Eid prayers to shape their lives.
