The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has opened an investigation into former National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Chief Executive, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, over allegations of financial mismanagement involving GH₵1.3 billion from the Unified Petroleum Pricing Fund (UPPF).
At a press briefing in Accra on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng disclosed that his office is looking into suspected corruption and related offenses linked to the misappropriation of funds from the UPPF.
The probe extends beyond Abdul-Hamid to include three other NPA officials:
Jacob Amuah – UPPF Coordinator
Freda Tandoh – NPA staff
Wendy Ashong Newman – NPA staff
The OSP aims to determine how the substantial sum allegedly vanished from the fund, which is designed to regulate fuel prices across the country. Abdul-Hamid, who was in charge of the NPA during the period in question, is suspected of being involved in the financial discrepancies.
“We are determined to fully investigate the extent of the financial losses and ensure accountability,” Agyebeng affirmed.
The Special Prosecutor assured the public that further updates would be shared as the inquiry advances.
