Crop Care Ghana, an Agriculture and Farmer support Agency says it has registered five thousand farmers this farming season to benefit from support for the cultivation of maize and Soya beans in the Northern part of the country.
The Executive Director, William Awuku Ahiadormey told Radio Ghana that the Agency has secured hybrid maize and soya bean seeds for distribution to the farmers to increase production for export.
Mr. Ahiadormey enumerated some challenges the Agency faced last year and urged the MMDCE’s to promulgate bye-laws to prosecute farmers who are running away with the Agency’s financial support.
Meanwhile, reports from the Upper East Region speak of feverish preparations towards planting as the rains have started in the region.
Research Scientist with the Savannah Agriculture Research Centre, Dr. Roger Kanton told Radio Ghana’s George Ankrah that he is impressed with the enthusiasm of the farmers.
