In a stirring address, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, former Minister of Education and advocate for youth development, captivated the audience at the Central Regional Sports Festival held at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Serving as the Special Guest, Professor Opoku-Agyemang underscored the significance of education as a fundamental right, urging the young athletes to take their studies seriously and strive for excellence.

Themed “Education is a Right: Stakeholders Must Support Low-Cost Private School Children,” the event aimed to highlight the importance of education and provide a platform for children from various low-cost private schools in the region to showcase their sporting talents.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang commended the regional executives for their dedication to promoting education and sports development, praising their tireless efforts in organising the festival.

Her words of encouragement resonated deeply with teachers, organisers, and students alike, emphasising the collective responsibility of government, parents, teachers, and the community in nurturing the potential of every child. 

She highlighted the crucial role played by all education providers, including low-cost private schools, in offering educational opportunities to marginalised communities.

The festival featured an array of exciting events, including football, athletics, and volleyball, with participating schools displaying remarkable skill and teamwork. The electric atmosphere, filled with cheering crowds and enthusiastic participants, made for an unforgettable experience. 

Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang emphasised the importance of investing in the future of the youth and ensuring that these schools receive the necessary resources and infrastructure to thrive.
