The Nation’s Builders Corps, NABCO, has been touted by government as a timely intervention to address unemployment in Ghana. But barely a year after its institution, NABCO has been fraught with myriad of challenges, particularly delays in payment of trainee allowances.

While some trainees are satisfied with the prompt payment of their monthly allowances, others are unhappy with months of accumulated arrears of unpaid allowances.

Addressing these concerns on an Accra based Radio station, the National Coordinator of NABCO, Dr Ibrahim Anyars, said frantic efforts have been made to resolve pertinent issues of the scheme including the swift payment of monthly allowance.

He said all outstanding arrears have been paid, except for trainees whose banks might have folded up.

Dr Anyars also explained that the purported sale of NABCO cloth at the Districts is wrong, indicating the cloth is to be given to the trainees at no cost.
