The National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) 2019-2020 batch has organized its annual week celebration in Tamale.

According to the Northern Regional President of NASPA, Toyibu Abdul-Kahad, the celebration is aimed at bringing together all National Service Personnel in the Northern Region to redefine, orientate and decentralize the image of the Association towards socio-economic development.

This year’s theme was dubbed, “Combating COVID-19, our utmost concern as NASPA.”

He said as part of NASPA’s contribution to fight the COVID-19, the Association donated Veronica buckets, liquid soap, hand sanitizers and tissue paper to organizations in the Region.

The Association will also mobilize funds to provide exercise books and pens to the less privileged Basic schools in the Region, to promote the free SHS policy initiated by Government.

NASPA has therefore appealed to government and stakeholders for financial support to carry out its programmes.

Former Deputy Agriculture Minister in the erstwhile NDC government, Dr. Ahmed Yakubu, who was the guest speaker, said the Service Personnel are well equipped with knowledge during this one-year period, and urged them to make good use of modern technology through the Agricultural Sector to become independent individuals in society.

He challenged them to seek to become self-employed and not employees at the end of their Service to the nation.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Sagnarigu, Hajia Mariam Iddrisu, urged members of NASPA, especially women to continue to work hard and determine to become great in society.
