A former Ghana Ambassador to Egypt, Major (Rtd) Umar Sanda Ahmed says considering the invaluable contribution of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu to national development, the Ghana Armed Forces, GAF should in no time confer on him an honorary rank to appreciate his charismatic leadership and diverse role in the sustenance of peace and stability in the country.
The request was made when a delegation from the GAF led by the Chief of the Defence Staff, Vice Admiral Seth Amoama paid him a visit to the National Chief Imam at his residence in Accra.
Major (Rtd) Ahmed, said the National Chief Imam has been a key pillar and unifier in ensuring peace across the religious divide and must be honoured. The National Chief Imam for his part lauded the delegation for recognizing his role in national development and called for peaceful co-existence among all religious and ethnic divides.
