National Security orders evacuation of 706 ECG containers from port

The National Security Council Secretariat has officially requested assistance from the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) to evacuate 706 containers belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

According to a confidential letter signed by National Security Coordinator, Osman Abdul-Razak, the containers are to be transported to the National Security warehouse in Abelemkpe.

The directive also instructs that all port charges on these containers be suspended pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.

The letter, dated March 27, 2025, was copied to the Minister of Transport and the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

The purpose of the investigations and the contents of the containers remain undisclosed. However, the directive signals a high-level security interest in the matter. Authorities are expected to provide further details as the situation develops.
