NCA launches five-year strategic plan

The National Communications Authority (NCA) lead by Hon. Ursula Owusu, the minister for Communications and Digitalisation has unveiled its comprehensive 5-year strategic plan, spanning from 2024 to 2028, at the NCA Tower on January 16, 2024.

This strategic blueprint, meticulously developed between December 2022 and April 2023, outlines initiatives and operations shaping the next five years in the dynamic communications landscape.

The development of the Authority’s Five-Year Strategic Plan is in accordance with Section 3(b) of the NCA Act, 2008 (Act 769) and is aimed at setting clearly defined goals and measurable steps for the Authority.

Distinguished attendees at the launch included Hon. Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Prof. Ezer Osei Yeboah-Boateng, Deputy Director General, Technical Operations, George Sarpong, Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), among others.

Prof. Ezer Osei Yeboah-Boateng, Deputy Director General, Technical Operations of NCA, conveyed their mission, highlighting that, “ a pursuit of becoming a world-class communications regulator that fosters innovative, reliable, and sustainable communication solutions. He underscored the mission’s evolution towards becoming an innovative, agile, professional, and proactive regulator adaptive to emerging changes in communications.”

The key strategic goal of the plan is to cultivate a skilled, competent, and highly motivated human capital, dedicated to delivering value and advancing the authority’s objectives.

NCA delineated the plan’s pillars, centered around the principles of digital transformation. These pillars encompass research, innovation, and process improvement; stakeholder coordination and engagement; human resource strengthening; and resource optimization and growth.

Within these pillars, NCA aims to stay at the forefront of technological advancements, foster collaborative regulatory environments, nurture a skilled and motivated workforce, and ensure efficient resource management.

“Crucial strategic actions include forging partnerships with academia, implementing a regulatory sandbox, enhancing stakeholder collaboration, improving employee well-being, and exploring opportunities in spectrum management, convergent services, and sustainable operations.
The authority emphasized the significance of a clear communication plan, annual work plans, rigorous monitoring, evaluation, and external assessments to meticulously track progress.”

In closing, NCA expressed gratitude for the collaborative effort of internal and external stakeholders and outlined the transformative journey of the strategic plan from maintaining good regulatory standards to achieving greatness.
