Police begin investigation into attack on NDC regional office in Tamale as calm returns

Police ndc

Calm is said to have returned to the Northern region after some unidentified gunmen stormed the Northern regional office of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), and fired shots, damaging the party office and some properties.

They also made away with some properties in the party office, including a laptop.

The motive for the attack is not known, but some observers are linking the gunshots to the appointment of an interim chairman after the death of its regional chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Mobila.

Speaking on GBC’s Behind the News, GBC’s Murtala Issah said no arrest was made and indicated that this is not the first time the office has come under attack. Investigation has started to bring the culprits to book.

Regional Secretary for the Party, Mohammed Abdul Salam, said the decision on the succession was made in accordance with the party’s constitution.

He added that, those not pleased with the decision should follow the right process rather than resort to violence. He noted that party members and anyone else found guilty would face the full force of the law.
