The NDC has called on the government to immediately carry out the recommendations of the Emile Short Commission of Enquiry to bring quick and long-lasting relief to the victims of the Ayawaso West Wuogon violence during the 2020 by-election.

A statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Kwettey, said the incident has rendered the victims economically challenged in these difficult times Ghana is going through. It said though this year is the final year of the Nana-Addo-led administration, it believes that implementing the report will not be out of order.

It urged Ghanaian voters to vote out the NPP in the upcoming general election. Exactly five years ago, the electorate at the Ayawaso West Wuogon went to the polls to elect a parliamentary representative replacement following the death of the then sitting MP, Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko.

The exercise was marred by violence with many persons receiving life-changing injuries from the indiscriminate firing of sophisticated assault rifles that the SWAT team members wielded.
