The Acting Upper West Regional Director the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, (GBC), Lawrence Tetteh has paid a courtesy call on the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih.
The meeting enabled Mr. Tetteh to introduce himself to Dr. Bin Salih as the new man that has taken over administration of GBC in Upper West.
In this report, GBCs Emmanuel Mensah-Abludo says the Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, Amidu Chinnia Issahaku was also at the meeting.
Breaking the ice, Mr. Tetteh said he was greatly honored to be in the company as the Regional Minister and his Deputy as well as other staff for the first for them to exchange ideas to further move the Upper West Region forward.
The new Regional Director of GBC pointed out that he has been working with the Corporation all his life in Accra and therefore regard his posting to Upper West as an exciting experience and opportunity to serve the country.
Mr. Tetteh pledged that GBC will have a symbiotic relationship with the RCC.
He said: “Honorable Regional Minister let me seize the opportunity to say that we look forward to work together in a bid to succeed in our respective chosen field of endeavors. We will work closely with the Regional Coordinating Council, (RCC), by ensuring that the mandate with which it is working and goals set to be achieved will be given the necessary assistance when it comes to the use of the media as a channel to be used for regional development.”
”We will work seriously towards the realization of this dream which we believe will be in tandem with the development agenda of the Regional Coordinating Council under your administration, Mr. Tetteh emphasized.
The Regional Minister, Dr. Bin Salih indicated that he was happy Mr. Tetteh had accepted posting to the Region saying in time past, people used to dread coming to the Upper West Region and entreated him to help propagate the good work of the government.
“I’m happy you have come at the time we are in dire need of the services of the media, Dr. Bin Salih stated.
He added: “Government is doing a lot under his Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. A lot of projects and programs have been rolled out. We need the Media to inform the public what the government is doing. The planting for food and jobs is a huge success in the Upper West Region. And as I speak, government has taken delivery of over 180 thousand, 25-kilogram bags of fertilizer when we are still expecting more.”
Dr. Bin Salih gave an assurance that government is working around the clock to finish the work on the Wa Regional Hospital for it to become operational this year.
Mr. Tetteh also called on the MCE of Wa, Tahiru Issahaku Moomin to confer with him. Both parties pledged to have fruitful working interactions.
