Founder and leader of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako, known in the business circles as Cheddar, has donated GHC 50,000 to some victims of the Kantamanto Market Fire Outbreak on Thursday, January 2, 2025.

The devastating fire swept through the Kantamanto Market, a popular secondhand clothing arena in Accra, reducing shops and goods worth millions of cedis to ashes in a matter of hours.

The affected traders who were seen throwing their hands in despair are counting their losses after the fire was brought under control.

Addressing the media during his visit to the site, Cheddar, as he is popularly called, urged stakeholders to support the reconstruction of the market.

He presented an amount of GHC 50,000 to the victims, pledging to help reconstruct the market centre.

He called on the government to implement measures to prevent future occurrences, suggesting that an insurance system be implemented.

“I plead with the government including the Assemblymen, Mayor, and decision-makers in this area, to direct attention to this place. Let’s put measures in place.

Insurance is very critical. Whatever amount of money traders here are charged, an insurance scheme should be added, no matter the size of a shop to protect the traders,” Nana Kwame Bediako, who also contested the 2024 presidential election, stated.
