The staff of the National Identification Authority, NIA, have called off their strike, which began on Monday, June 10, 2024.

This decision was influenced by interventions from the Minister for National Security, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, the National Labour Commission, and public outcry.

The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission assured the staff of good faith in upcoming negotiations regarding their conditions of service.

The NIA staff have warned that if the government does not grant Institution Specific Allowances by tomorrow Friday, June 14, 2024 they will resume the strike.

The strike, initiated due to poor working conditions and stalled negotiations, had halted operations at all NIA offices, affecting many applicants. However, our checks at the NIA head office in Accra show that the staff have fully resumed work and are attending to the public.

The staff are hopeful for a positive outcome in tomorrow’s negotiations.
