Nigerian student jailed 5yrs for human trafficking

An Accra Circuit court has sentenced a Nigerian student to five years in prison for human trafficking. Jennifer Chizoba Jeremiah, 22 years is said to transport girls from Nigeria to Ghana to work as sales persons, but forces them into prostitution.
The Nigerian convict, resident of Roman, a suburb of Kasoa will serve in hard labour. Prosecution informed the court that, the police arrested the convict and one Angel Chioma Jeremiah also found guilty of abetment of human trafficking after a victim of the criminal act reported it to the Anti Human Trafficking Unit, CID Headquarters in March this year.
Prosecution said during their arrest at Roman, Kasoa where victims of prostitution were housed, items such as condoms of various brands and an exercise book for the recording sales realised from sexual activities of their victims were found.
Further investigations revealed that, the convict, Jennifer brought the victim who reported the case to the Police from Nigeria under the guise of coming to work as a sales person but upon reaching Ghana, Jennifer filmed her naked and threatened to go viral with it if the victim did not comply and pay the cost of bringing her to Ghana.
It was also found that, her accomplice, Angel Chioma also a student helps the act by using her phone to invite men to have sex with their victims. The court found Angel also guilty of abetment of human trafficking but because she is not yet 18 years, a social enquiry has been ordered and sentence deferred and referred to the Juveniles court.
