Business activities have come to a halt following the imposition of a curfew on the Nkwanta South Municipality.

A lot more residents are also leaving the town while those caught outside after curfew hours are being beaten by the military.

Renewed clashes on Tuesday between the Adele, Challa, and Akyode tribes over disagreements on the performance of rites related to the 2023 annual Yam Festival left several persons injured, with 13 persons losing their lives.

A curfew has been imposed on the town, while a joint Military and Police patrol team was deployed to beef up security.

The Oti Regional, Minister Joshua Makubu, led a REGSEC meeting yesterday to find lasting solution to the disturbance.
