The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Alhassan Tampuli says the novel Coronavirus pandemic is a serious public health concern that requires the collective effort of all to help curb its spread.
In a message delivered on his behalf, the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed said government acknowledges the invaluable support of individuals and institutions in the fight against the global pandemic but more has to be done to compliment its effort.
Mr Saeed made the call at a brief ceremony in Tamale when he presented a number of medical supplies to the Northern Regional Health Directorate for onward distribution to the various health facilities in the region.
The items include 174 Overalls, 1,800 Disposable Isolation Blankets, 200 boxes of Gloves, 25 Lung Exercisers and 10 Pulse Oximeters among other Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs).
Presenting the items on behalf of the NPA Boss, Mr Saeed encouraged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items. Whilst urging the directorate to help prevent and minimise the spread of the disease, he further called on the general public to observe good personal hygiene among other safety measures in the wake of the deadly pandemic.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Regional COVID-19 Medical Team, the Northern Regional Director of Health, Dr John Eleeza, commended the NPA Boss, Mr Tampuli for the kind gesture and encouraged others to emulate same.
Accompanied by the minister were some officials from the Northern Regional Coordinating Council. Also present were some Regional Executives of the NPP including the Regional Secretary, Alhaj Sibdoo and the Regional Organiser, Alhaj Rashid.
So far 6 out of the 10 reported cases of Covid-19 in Northern region have tested negative after treatment. Heath officials say the patients cannot be declared fully recovered until they have undergone a second round of testing.
