NYA Boss inspects construction of Sports Stadium in Koforidua

The Chief Executive Officer for National Youth Authority, NYA, Mr. Pius Enam Hadzide has paid a working visit to Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital to inspect the construction of the ongoing Sports Stadium.

He was however impressed of the level of work done so far and urged the contractor to complete the project on schedule.

He was accompanied by the board chairman of the National Youth Authority, Mr. Akwasi Afriyie Mensah, the MP for New Juaben South, Mr. Michael Okyere Baafi and some officials from the authority.

The Koforidua Sports Stadium is one of the 10-multi-purpose Sports Centres being constructed by the government is nearing its completion.

The facility when completed will have a standard FIFA pitch which can be used by Premier and Divisional teams in the region.

 

All the seats and rolling of tartan track were installed.

The remaining nine at Wa, Novrongo, Yendi, Nyinahin, Dormaa Ahenkro, Dunkwa-On-Offin, Axim, Ho and Kaneshie are all close to completion.

The sports centre can also boasts of FIFA standard Pitches, 8-lane athletic oval, a 40-metre long jump runway with a takeoff board, multipurpose Courts including tennis, volley, and handball, spectator stands-popular and VIP, hotel units, IT hubs, shops and restaurants, among others.

The Chief Executive Officer for National Youth Authority, Mr. Pius Senam Hadzide was happy with the level of work done and explained why the project delayed.

The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Mr. Michael Okyere Baafi said the facility when completed will help to unearth talents in the youth in the region.

He raised concern about the encroachment of the stadium land and added that due process will be use to eject the encroachers from the area.
