The minority caucus of the Parliament of Ghana embarked on a peaceful protest in accordance with the guidance and directives of the Ghana Police Service.
The protest took off on October 3, 2023 with the rank and file of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other well-meaning Ghanaians converging from Obra spot closer to the Nkrumah roundabout in Accra.
In a media interview, the member of parliament for the people of Wa central, Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo lamented the lack of dedication of the Bank of Ghana towards its core mandate and file.
He mentioned that the central Bank under the leadership of Dr.Ernest Addison has lost its central role.
“The Bank of Ghana has shown that they cannot play the central role under the leadership of Mr. Addison. The printing of the 70 billion meant to have been used for the development of this country is being wasted”, he stated.
Mr. Pelpuo also questioned the current government on the use of funds provided by the Bank of Ghana, as there are no records of how the funds were spent in accordance with the law.
“Now the question is if you are taking away money and spending it without any due records to the law, what happens next? You cannot give government this amount of money without records to parliament. That is the first transgression of the Bank of Ghana,” He added.
He stated that development shows that the Bank of Ghana is where the resources are being taken from illegally from Ghana. He also mentioned that, such acts by the government is abominable and must be checked and resisted.
“The Bank of Ghana is an organization through which resources are siphoned from this country,” He concluded.
