#OccupyBoGProtest: Social media users react

By Seli Baisie

Ghanaians have taken to social media, particularly the platform X (formerly known as Twitter), to voice their opinions in support of the ongoing #OccupyBoG demonstration.

The protest has been organized by the Minority group in the Parliament of Ghana as a peaceful demonstration, aiming to voice their concerns and call for the resignation of Dr. Ernest Addison, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, along with his two deputies.

The #OccupyBoGProtest drew thousands of participants, including members of Parliament from the minority caucus and other executives from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

On Tuesday, October 3, they took to the streets in the early hours to express their frustrations and demand improvements in the economic environment and governance.

The protesters gathered at the Obra Spot at Kwame Nkrumah Circle and proceeded along a route that included Adabraka, Ridge Roundabout, National Theatre Traffic Light, High Court Complex Traffic Light, Attah Mills Highway, and finally making a U-turn at the National Lotteries, concluding their march at the Independence Square.

The widespread use of social media platforms, particularly Twitter, allowed individuals to share their thoughts and reactions to the #OccupyBoG protest.

This digital engagement provided an additional dimension to the demonstration, enabling people to express their support, concerns, and opinions on the matter.
