In a heartwarming act of generosity, NDC’s running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has donated $7,500 to cover the medical expenses of 3-year-old Patnam Kantam, who is in need of urgent surgery for a congenital heart defect known as a hole in the heart.
The donation was made during a visit to the National Cardiothoracic Centre at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Thursday, where the young boy is being prepared for surgery. Patnam, who has been on medication since birth, was referred to the hospital for surgical intervention.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, who personally presented the donation, expressed her appreciation to the hospital staff for their commitment to the boy’s care.
“I feel privileged that we can provide the necessary support,” she said, highlighting the dedication of the medical team.
The Head of the Cardiothoracic Centre, Dr. Kow Entsua-Mensah, praised Prof. Opoku-Agyemang for her personal involvement, noting that her gesture was a powerful demonstration of her compassion for children.
The patient’s father, Mr. Abdul Majeed Kantam, thanked Prof. Opoku-Agyemang for her kindness, expressing his gratitude for the life-saving donation.
