Easter is a special period marked by Christians all over the world to commemorate the death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ. In Ghana, the Easter gathering is mostly celebrated in Kwahu in the Eastern Region but as we celebrate Easter, the Keep an Eye Segment of the GTV Breakfast Show has made an interesting and rather sacred journey to Kpando, Agbnenoxoe precisely in the Volta Region to visit the “Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto”.
The Grotto is a Holy Place that has carved images of very significant people and events that took place so many years ago in relation to the life and death of Jesus Christ.
History has it that a woman who once lived in that community went to the holy place to pray and was visited by the Virgin Mary, and so a statue has been erected there depicting the image of the Virgin Mary to commemorate the incident.
The sacred land also has the carved images of the various stages of the 14 Stations of the Cross right from the happenings in the Garden of Gethsemane, the betrayal, the trial, the denial, the crucifixion through to when Christ was finally laid in the tomb.
The Grotto is indeed a sacred place where one can visit to have the true reflection of the Biblical story of everything that has got to do with the death through to the resurrection of Christ.
One can also visit to enjoy the beauty in arts as well as have both a personal and a spiritual encounter with Jesus Christ.
