The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto says more than two million jobs have been created under the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) programme since its inception three years ago.

Giving a breakdown of the beneficiaries from 2017 to date, Dr Afriyie Akoto said beneficiaries of the programme are in the rural communities.

Speaking at the Meet the Press series in Accra, the sector Minister said the jobs created under this policy is unprecedented.

Dr Afriyie Akoto said the Agriculture Extension Officers in the system were not many when he took office.

He made a strong case for more to be recruited and now two thousand seven hundred extension officers have been hired.
