More than two hundred (200) excavators have been evacuated from forest reserves across the country following the directive by the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor that all reconnaissance, prospecting, and exploration in forest reserves must seize.

GBC NEWS sources at the Ministry indicate that the excavators were removed from the forest reserves in Juaboso, Upper Wassa, Konongo Krobo, and Apaparama.

Earlier this week government deployed about two hundred military personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces to crackdown on illegal miners particularly in areas demarcated as RED ZONES which are water bodies and Forest Zones.
