The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation says it has recovered more than ₵1 million out of about ₵3.2 million, it was supposed to recover.
It says a deficit of two point one of that amount cannot be recovered as it dates back to the 1990s, adding that it is yet to officially write off the outstanding amount.
Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament on Friday, July 21, 2023, Director General of the GBC, Prof. Amin Alhassan, said recoveries generally in the media industry are challenging. However, the ”GBC has been making giant strides in this direction”.
He said, ”the GBC has internal mechanisms to address unearned salaries.” He said it has been able to make significant recoveries, recovering about half of those amounts.
Prof. Amin was confident the remaining amount would be recovered.
