A Circuit Court Judge Emmanuel Essandoh has granted bail in the sum of One Hundred Thousand Cedis (GH¢100, 000) to Apostle Kwabena Owusu Adjei, the Pastor who threatened the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.

He is to provide three sureties two of which must be public servants earning not less than two thousand cedis.

Apostle Owusu Adjei is also requested to submit his passport and report twice in a week to the CID.

The court granted the bail after both parties had addressed the court on the bail application.

The Apostle was arrested for threatening the Chairperson of the EC in a viral video.

Lawyer for the accused person Victor Adawudu told the court that his client has no passport but is a good man of God who usually donates to his neighbors for the past four years.

Lawyer Adawudu prayed the court for flexible bail terms.

ASP Sylvester Asare in opposition to the bail application said it is not true that they have finished with investigations, since it is ongoing and it is not an event but a process.

It is not the intention of the state to keep him in custody but it’s in the interest of the community.

ASP Asare also raised concerns about the permanent place of abode of the accused person.

According to him if the accused person is granted bail he could tamper with investigations.

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the three charges of threat of death, unlawful possession of narcotic plant and assault on public officer.

The case has been adjourned to the 21st of next month.
