Executive Secretary of the Bono and Ahafo Regional Peace Councils, Suallah Abdallah Quandah, has denied the notion that the Peace Council is not doing enough to address the increasing violence in the country.
He said the Council employs diplomacy rather than open confrontation and condemnation to parties involved in violence.
This creates the impression that the council is not seen or heard tackling the issue.
The National Peace Council and some other bodies have come under criticism from a section of Ghanaians for not condemning publicly the violence and disturbances in the country in recent times.
The National Peace Council Act 2011 enjoins the council to manage and resolve conflicts to build sustainable peace.
With the recent spate of violent disturbances in the country, some Ghanaians are raising questions about whether the Council is indeed living up to its mandate.
The Regional Executive Secretary of the Bono and Ahafo Peace Councils, Suallah Abdallah Quandah, said an unfortunate impression stems from lack of understanding of operations of the Council.
