Hundreds of young and old have defied the heavy downpour to participate in this year’s Peki Icon Talent Discovering Community Programme held on Easter Saturday at the famous Peki Avetile Community Centre which attracted a massive crowd.
Peki Icon is a talent discovery community programme introduced about 5 years ago by the Executive Director of Lotus International Foundation, Mrs. Fafa Bankas, a media lady and Youth Activist who is based in both Peki and Accra.
For the past 5 years, this programme has been co-sponsored by the MP for the area, Rockson-Nelson E.K. Dafeamekpor and it has uncovered lots of talents amongst the youth and adolescents within the Peki enclave, especially during festive occasions like Xmas, Easter, and Yam Festivals.
This year, Miss Evelyn Yayra Darkey emerged as the overall winner with bragging rights, followed by Kelvin Jordan as the 1st Runner-up. The second runner-up position went to Eugenia Dadzo.
The details of the prizes won and received by the winners are listed below:
The winner went home with a trophy, cash prize of GH¢700, electric iron, branded Peki Icon exercise books, and provisions from Cowbell and Promasidor as well as Special Ice Sweet drinks as a souvenir.
The 1st Runner Up also received a cash prize of GH¢500, electric iron, branded Peki Icon exercise books, provisions from Cowbell and Promasidor and Special Ice sweet drinks as a souvenir; whereas the 2nd Runner Up got a cash prize of GH¢300, electric iron, branded Peki Icon exercise books, provisions from Cowbell and Promasidor, and Special Ice sweet drinks as a souvenir.
All the contestants also received Peki Icon exercise books, provisions from Cowbell and Promasidor, and Special Ice Sweet drinks as a souvenir.
