Police arrest suspect for stealing EPA vehicle in Tarkwa

Police have arrested a man suspected of stealing a Toyota Land Cruiser belonging to Ghana’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Tarkwa, Western Region.

The suspect, identified as Salifu Gariba, was apprehended on 16 April 2025 by officers from the Northern Regional Police Command at Kukobila, along the Tamale-Bolgatanga highway.

The stolen vehicle, with registration number GS 1845-23, was recovered during the operation.

According to a police statement, the vehicle was allegedly stolen in the early hours of 15 April from the residence of an EPA employee in Budo City, a suburb of Tarkwa.

Mr Gariba remains in police custody as investigations continue. Authorities say he will be processed for court in accordance with the law.
