Amidst the festive spirit, the Ghana Police Service has taken robust measures to fortify public safety in Accra as it is the capital of Ghana and beyond. The city is witnessing an escalation in police presence through intensified vehicular, motorbike, and horse patrols.

This strategic deployment aims to create a secure environment, safeguarding residents and their properties throughout this Christmas and beyond.

The Greater Accra Region is experiencing heightened visibility, as the Ghana Police Service implements a comprehensive rollout of motorbikes, horses, and K9 Unit patrols.

This proactive approach seeks to extend coverage across the country, region by region, ensuring that every corner benefits from increased police presence.

As part of ongoing efforts for comprehensive stakeholder engagement, Accra is actively involved in promoting security at all levels throughout the nation during this festive season and beyond.

To gauge public sentiment on these security measures, we spoke with some individuals to get their perspectives on the Ghana Police Service’s initiatives.

Firstly, we reached out to Kwame Agyeman, a resident in Accra who expressed his thoughts, “It’s reassuring to see the police taking proactive steps to enhance security. The increased patrols make me feel safer, especially during this festive period when there is a higher likelihood of activities. It’s a positive move for our community.”

In Lapaz we spoke with Rachael Owusu, who shared her perspective on the police presence, saying, “Knowing that the police are actively patrolling our streets during the festive season is a welcome sight. It adds a layer of security, and it’s good to see them taking a comprehensive approach. It helps everyone enjoy the celebrations without worries.”

Also talking to Alfred who is also a resident of Lapaz, he noted that, this is a good initiative by the police and I respect them for that. During Christmas the crime rate increases which makes people to even go out and chill, now due to this i am safe and I can go out to chill.”

The Ghana Police Service’s initiative to amplify security measures is resonating positively with residents, fostering a sense of safety and confidence during the festive season and laying the groundwork for enhanced public safety in the days to come.
