The Ghana Police Service has assured the public of fostering a democratic environment “where citizens’ rights will be upheld in the maintenance of security and stability in the country”.

This statement was made in a meeting on Friday, September 22, 2023 with some leaders of the democracy hub group and led by the inspector General of police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

The meeting was to address key issues in relation to the demonstration and its targeted venue; “The Jubilee House”. The Police said the venue for the demonstration is wrong as it’s a major security zone.

They also stated that they are not against the demonstration, as it’s their job to ensure peace and order in the country.

The leaders of the democracy hub group told the Police they will discuss change of venue and leaving the streets with their members and revert.

The Police during the meeting said, there are no issues of assault on demonstration members and urged anyone with evidence related to that, be provided for further investigations.
