The Ghana Police Service has taken swift action to restore calm at Spot M, a timber market community between Taifa and Ofankor Barrier on the Accra to Nsawam Highway within the Trobu Constituency and the Ga-North Municipality.
According to a post by the Ghana Police Service via their official X (formerly Twitter) page, calm has been restored for the easy and free flow of traffic to continue. The presence and intervention of the police have seen some calmness and the continuation of daily business within the enclaves of the timber market.
The incident, according to an eyewitness, caused heavy traffic on the road within the hours of 0900 and 1000 on September 20, 2023. The incident is alleged to have been caused by a brawl between a group of land guards and traders within the timber market over an issue of forceful and unlawful eviction. It is also alleged that one person lost his life in the clash.
The police have since strengthened security in the area, begun investigations into the main cause of the clash, and promised to get all perpetrators arrested to face justice.
