A Police Chief Inspector has been interdicted for alleged rape by the Ashanti Regional Police Command.

The Chief Inspector, whose name is being withheld for security reasons, is stationed at the Manso Datano in the Amansie South District.

He allegedly raped the wife of a suspect in police custody, which had sparked controversy in the town.

A statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs Unit of the Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Godwin Ahianyo, said that the police administration would not shield any police personnel, who would indulge in criminality as “it is the policy of the Inspector General of Police and the Police Administration”.

It appealed to the victim to report to the police headquarters to assist in investigations for justice to prevail in the matter.
