The Elubo Police in the Jomoro District of the Western region have arrested a 26-year old porter, Kasim Suleman, for allegedly abducting a 17-year old girl at Elubo, on January 20 this year.
The Western regional Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Olivia Adiku, who confirmed the arrest yesterday, said the suspect is in police custody assisting with investigations.
DSP Adiku explained that, at about 8pm on Sunday, January 20, according to the father of the victim, Pastor John Ackon of the Lighthouse Worldwide Church, the daughter left home without the parents’ concern and all efforts to trace her whereabouts proved unsuccessful.
The Western Regional Police PRO said on Saturday, January 26, at about 6;30am, Pastor Ackon saw her daughter at Elubo, and when he questioned her, she mentioned Suleman as the one who took her to his room.
DSP Adiku said at 7am, Pastor Ackon in the company of his daughter and four others, apprehended the suspect, and handed him to the Elubo Police. The Police PRO gave the assurance that police investigators are working hard to get details of Suleman’s activities at Elubo.
