The POS Foundation, known for its work in facilitating the Justice for All Programme, has donated a cheque of ¢2,000.00, Four Automated Handwashing Machines, Gallons of liquid soap and Infrared Thermometers among other items to the Sunyani Central Prisons in the Bono Region.
The package is aimed at assisting the Correctional Facility continue its effort to keep Corvid-19 out of the Prison.
The CEO of POS Foundation, Jonathan Osei Owusu, in his remarks praised the Ghana Prisons Service for the good work done so far in keeping Prisons across the Country largely free of Covid-19.
The Sunyani Central Prisons, like other prisons in Ghana, faces serious congestion. The facility designed to hold under 400 inmates currently has just over 800 within its walls. The facility in its present condition will facilitate the rapid spread of Corvid-19. The plan of the authorities therefore is to keep it Covid-19 free.
The donation by POS Foundation was supported by OSIWA Ghana and Open Society Foundation under the Global Drug Policy Programme, could not have come at a better time for the Sunyani Central Prisons as the fight to maintain its Covid-19 free status is far from over.
The donation include gloves, face screens, boxes of Vitamin C, Veronica buckets, trash cans and a quantity of Tissue Paper.
Handing the items over, the CEO of the POS Foundation, Jonathan Osei Owusu, said the Prisons Service deserves praise for keeping the Prisons free of Corvid-19.
He added that the donation is to urge them on as complacency is not an option as the steady increase in Ghana’s case count shows no signs of letting up.
The Commander of the Sunyani Central Prison, Kwasi Asamoah Fenning, for his part expressed gratitude to the donors and urged others to emulate POS Foundation as the Prison needs more help.
