President Akufo-Addo has terminated the appointment of Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Adjenim Boateng Adjei with immediate effect.

He has also been disqualified from holding public office for the next five years.

This follows a report submitted to the President by Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).

The Commission found out that Mr. Boateng Adjei had put himself in a position where his personal interests conflicted with the performance of his functions as CEO and Board Member of the PPA.

CHRAG also stated that he abused his high office of trust.

On 29th August last year, President Akufo-Addo suspended Mr Boateng Adjei from office following the broadcast of allegations made against him in a “contract for sale” documentary.

President Akufo-Addo subsequently referred the matter of Conflict of Interest to CHRAG, and those relating to corruption to the Office of Special prosecutor.

Having satisfied himself of the fact that the recommendation made by CHRAG is properly and well founded, the President expressed his appreciation the Commissioner of CHRAG, Joseph Whittal for the thorough and methodical manner in which the issue has been addressed.
