First Atlantic Bank has constructed and handed over a Six-unit classroom to the management and staff of the Abua District Assembly Basic School in the Pru West District of the Bono East region.
GBC News/GTV’s airing of the sorry state of the school, is what necessitated the construction of the school by the First Atlantic bank- an act which forms part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for the year 2022.
Handing over the block to the community, the Board Chairman of the Bank, Mr. Amarquaye Armar said, the primary objective of the bank is to create a more conducive teaching and learning environment at the primary school level, which falls in line with the bank’s motto of “Refreshingly different.” Mr. Armar said the project was undertaken in close collaboration and partnership with the community who provided labour. Work on the project began on the 5th July and was completed on the 14th of September 2022.
The new six-classroom block comes with an ICT laboratory, and a staff common room furnished with sixty dual desks for 120 pupils, in all the classrooms as well as tables and chairs for the staff common room and the ICT laboratory. The bank also undertook a comprehensive renovation of the existing 6-unit classroom block and its associated toilet and urinal facilities.
The District Chief Executive for Pru West, Mr. David Manu, called on Management and staff to make use of the facility and ensure its proper maintenance.
The Paramount Chief of Prang Traditional Area, Nana Kwadwo Nyarko 111, said, there are several communities in the catchment area, without single infrastructure in their schools forcing pupils to sit under trees, thereby affecting their academic performance. Nana Kwadwo Nyarko thanked GBC New GTV for telling the world their plight and for the positive outcome. While’s commending the bank for the school block, he acknowledged, the GTV crew led by Peggy Ama Donkor for bringing the plight of the children to the attention of authorities. He donated a cow each to the GBC Reporter and to the bank for bringing hope to the community.
In appreciation for the edifice by the bank, the traditional council made available an acre of land (4 plots) for any future development. He called on the bank, its allies and other corporate bodies to shift attention to the Pru West District to support work and development of the district.
In a message from the Governor of the bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison delivered by the Deputy Head of the Bono Regional Manager of the First Atlantic Bank, Mr. Nurideen Yussif Musah, said there is no doubt that the project will improve the chances and opportunity for the youth in the community.
This six-unit classroom block at Abua at Prang in the Pru West district of the Bono East region, brings to four, major Corporate Social Responsibility (SCR) undertaking of the First Atlantic Bank since 2018, when it adopted a strategy aimed at enhancing access to health and education for women and children at all levels in the country. Meanwhile, the First Atlantic Bank, FAB as a policy, does not disclose its financial information to the public with regards to any Social Corporate Responsibility SCR activities.
