President Akufo-Addo assures Greater Accra of massive road works

President Akufo-Addo has assured the People of the Greater Accra region of massive improvement in their road infrastructure as he began a three-day tour of the region.

Poor road network is a major issue that greeted the President in almost all the areas visited on day one of his tour.

President Akufo-Addo together with the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako Atta, expressed confidence that by next year (2020) most abandoned road projects will be reactivated.

The President begun his tour of the Greater Accra region with a visit to Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfro at Amanfro where a durbar was held in his honour.

The Ngleshie Amanfro Mantse, Nii Kwarshie Gborlor commended President Akufo-Addo for implementing flagship programmes such as the Free SHS.

He appealed to the President to fix the boundary issues between Accra and the Central region.

The President later visited Amasaman where a Durbar of the Chiefs and people was held in his honour.

The Chief of Amasaman, Nii Amasa Oseku commended President Akufo-Addo for implementing the NABCO, Free SHS programs among others. The Chief’s major worry is the deplorable roads.

Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako Atta noted that road construction is ongoing in all 16 regions and 260 districts across the country, but admits that a lot needs to be done.

President Akufo-Addo said government will not relent in efforts to fix the roads.

President Akufo-Addo later inspected the progress of work at the Pokuase interchange. Contractors on site indicated that work is on schedule to be completed next year.
