President Akufo-Addo has inaugurated a 330kv Kumasi-Bolgatanga Transmission line project.
The project which was funded by the French government and European Union at a cost of 174 Million US dollars has a key component in ensuring sustainable and reliable power delivery in Ashanti and other regions in the Middle belt and the North.
Correspondent Razak Baba reports that at a durbar prior to the inauguration, the Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh said the additional transmission would guarantee power throughout the country.
“These projects together with others in the Energy Sector have made Ghana a leader in the delivery of reliable energy in Africa”.
The Board Chairman of Ghana Grid Company, GRIDCO, Ambassador Kabral Blay-Amihere commended the President for his immense support for the several initiatives GRIDCo has completed in the last five years.
The French charge d’affaires to Ghana, Mr. Raphael Malara said the project is the major achievement for Ghana, Burkina Faso and France relationship.
“The investment is the largest France has made in Ghana to date”.
On his Part, the President Akufo-Addo was optimistic that with recent investments made in the energy sector, it would go a long way to eliminate the frequent blackouts from the middle belt up to the North.
