Following the overhaul of the State Enterprises Commission, the government instituted the State Interest and Governance Authority (SIGA) by promulgating the State Interests and Governance Authority Act, 2019 to replace the SEC.
SIGA was tasked with addressing matters relating to SOEs, including poor performance of SOEs, weak governance structures, and streamlining the activities of all SOEs to ensure public accountability and generate revenue to develop the economy.
The second day of the event attracted chief executives of SOEs and managers of specified entities.
Speaking at the 2023 state interest and governance authority, SIGA, annual stakeholders meeting in Kwahu the president said the Russian Ukraine crisis and Covid-19 have destabilised the world economy however the president called on SOEs to work collectively to jump-start the economy
The president charged specified entities and SOE’s heads to work in line with the directives of SIGA to ensure state accountability.
The 2023 SIGA meeting was part of measures taken by SOEs to find solutions and recommendations for the current economic difficulties.
