President Akufo-Addo says the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) is still relevant and therefore does not side with suggestions that the Commission be abolished for ineffectiveness.
The President believes that the NCCE still has an important role to play in helping to establish a culture of awareness in Ghana.
President Akufo-Addo was speaking at the Jubilee House after swearing into office Mrs. Kathleen Addy as the new Chairperson of the NCCE.
Mrs. Addy replaces Madam Josephine Nkrumah who resigned from her position to represent ECOWAS in Liberia. Mrs. Addy until her appointment, was the Deputy Chairperson of the NCCE since March 2017.
She pledged to lead the Commission to execute its tasks as prescribed by the Constitution.
Kathleen is an activist with special interest in governance and human rights.
