President Akufo-Addo will from Sunday, August 22, 2021 pay a State visit to Germany at the invitation of Chancellor Angela Merkel. The visit will strengthen and deepen bilateral and economic relations between the two countries.

Addressing the Presidential Press Corps at its Inaugural Jubilee House Press Briefing, Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin noted that while in Germany, the President will have discussions with manufacturers of the Pfizer vaccine with the aim of securing more vaccines and the establishment of a Vaccine Institute in Ghana, government he said has committed to vaccinating more than 20 million of Ghana’s adult population by the close of 2021.

During the President’s visit, he will deliver a speech at the 75th Anniversary of the formation of the North Rhine–Westphalia State which is Germany’s most popular State and the number One industrial region.

The President, he added, will also address a ceremony at the North Rhine Westphalia Academy of International Politics in Bonn as the guest of honour.

‘’He will later participate in the G20 Compact with Africa, an initiative under the German G20 Presidency to promote private investment in Africa’’.

On the delay in the appointment of MMDCE, Mr. Arhin said the process put in place by the President for purposes of choosing and appointing MMDCEs is complete and the President through the Minister of Local Government and Decentralization, Dan Botwe will soon release the list of appointees. He refuted allegations that a vacuum had been created by the delay.
