Presidential Advisor on Health, Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare says President Akufo-Addo will be the first to receive a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine ahead of the mass vaccination which starts on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.
“President Akufo-Addo will be the first to be vaccinated,” Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare, said.
According to him, the move “is to assure Ghanaians that the vaccines are safe” so as to encourage the entire population to avail themselves of vaccination.
The first batch of coronavirus vaccines produced by the Serum Institute of India arrived at the Kotoka International Airport on Wednesday (February 24, 2021).
Minister-designate for Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, led government delegation to receive the vaccines.
In all 600,000 doses of vaccines acquired through the COVID-19 Vaccine Global Access Facility (COVAX) have been received.
