Members of the 2024 Joint Transition team have been charged to selflessly discharge their duty in line with the Presidential Transition Act.
President Akufo Addo and President-elect John Dramani Mahama, speaking at the inauguration of the Transition Team, urged the members to prioritise the interest of the country in their engagements. Ghana, they noted, must continue to be a shining example of democracy for other countries.
The Presidential Transition Act enjoins sitting and incoming Presidents to set up a joint team to ensure a smooth transfer of executive power.
The 2024 Transition Advisory Council has two Former Speakers of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho and Mike Oquaye, as members, with the current speaker, Alban Bagbin, as chairman.
President Akufo-Addo said adhering strictly to the provisions of the Transition Act, is a powerful signal to the world about Ghana’s democratic credentials even in challenging times.
The President elect, John Mahama, promised to work together with the government to ensure a smooth transition.
The joint transition Team after the inauguration went into a closed-door session.
