President John Mahama says the National Cathedral project will be investigated as recommended by the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, CHRAJ. He hinted of a possibility of relocating the project from its current site.
Speaking at the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service in Accra, President Mahama said a national consensus on the project must also take into consideration the cost of the project, estimated at 400 million dollars.
He was emphatic that public funds will not be spent on the project as the country’s economy is not in a position to do so.
President Mahama said as leaders they are called to serve with integrity and accountability. He, therefore, pledged to lead a government that is transparent, accountable and focused on justice and fairness.
On the fight against corruption, President Mahama cautioned his appointees and will be appointees against any act of corruption, saying it will not be business as usual.
