Prez. Akufo-Addo backs Attorney General to prosecute Aisha Huang

President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has given his full backing to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Mr. Godfred Yeboah Dame to prosecute a notorious Chinese galamsey kingpin, Aisha Huang.

The notorious Chinese national is alleged to have been engaging in galamsey (illegal mining) in Ashanti and Western parts of Ghana without regard to the laws governing mining with class impunity.

Huang after her initial deportation from Ghana on similar charges was recently re-arrested in Ghana after allegedly falsifying some documents to gain access back into Ghana.

Addressing members of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) at the launch of the Annual Bar Conference in Ho in the Volts region assured the gathering that he will throw his support behind the Attorney General to prosecute Aisha Huang.

Mr. Akufo-Addo also urged the Judiciary to ensure that the notorious galamsey Chinese national, Aisha Huang is subjected to the full punishment as enshrined in the minerals and mining Act as amended ACT 2019 (ACT 995).

Aisha Huang was said to be deported in 2018 because of her galamsey (illegal mining) activities.

The information available to the media indicates that Attorney General Mr. Yeboah Dame plans to revisit Huang’s past crimes as well as her recent offenses.

She has been charged with mining without a license and engaging in the sale and purchase of minerals.
