President Nana Akufo-Addo has inaugurated two new factories under the 1D1F programme in the Central Region.
He has also cut the sod for the construction of the 14.5km Kasoa-Bawjiase Road in the Awutu Senya West District of the region.
The President during the second day of his two-day working visit to the Central region inspected ongoing projects and also interact with the people of the region to listen to their concerns and challenges and brief them on what government is doing, especially to overturn the current economic challenges.
He addressed issues such as the call for the review of the Free S.H.S, the current economic situation, some alleged issues of corruption within his government and some allegations that he has been adamant to calls to reshuffle his appointees.
According to the President, he welcomes calls for the review of funding mechanism for free S H S and how to go about it by all stakeholders but would not agree to any attempt to scrap or deprive any Child of their secondary education.
He explained, that there are no corruption allegations levelled against his appointees that he has not taken action.
To him, calls to reshuffle his appointees haven’t fallen in deaf ears but he has not found the reason to do so and cited the Finance Minister who he says has performed well in the past and still committed and determined to help bring the economy back on track.
The President next point was the groundbreaking of the 14 point 5km Kasoa-Bawjiaso road.
Nana Addo and his entourage inspected an ultra-modern court complex at Jey River also in Awutu Senya East.
Later called on the chief of Ofankor, Nai Ewushi Tetteh, at Kasoa before meeting the Omanhen of Awutu Traditional area, Abroad Agyemang Wyettey Otabir and his council.
The president explained his mission to the region and listened to their concerns.
The Omahen thanked the president for his foresight and dedication to development and called for a modern market at Bawjiase, a secondary school at Awutu Breku and some road construction.
The President responded to the request of the chief.
From there, the President commissioned a gas cylinder factory at Chochoe in Awutu Senya West.
The cylinder-producing factory has about 250 workers and is already operating.
Another factory that was commissioned is the lubricant factory at Gomoa Akoti. This will add to the 125 factories that are currently operating.
According to the President, there will soon be a directive to all government agencies to patronise products from the government’s 1D1F.
