A Legal Practitioner, Martin Kpebu says the death of the main suspect in Professor Emmanuel Yaw Benneh’s murder will not halt the legal proceeding because the Police managed to gather sufficient evidence to prosecute the other suspects.
He explained that the Police will now have to examine the existing statement of the dead person to prosecute his supposedly accomplices.
James Nana Womba, the suspect, is said to have passed away last Saturday, October 17, at the Police Hospital in Accra.
A Police source said that the suspect died shortly after admission at the hospital.
Womba, who allegedly confessed to killing the University of Ghana law lecturer, had been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and murder and had been arraigned before the Kaneshie District Court.
On Sunday, September 13, the body of the 66-year-old professor was found in a pool of blood in a supine position with his hand and legs tied.
Investigations led to the arrest of James Nana Womba, who confessed to the crime.
